The Monument is in the northwestern part of the state, close to the Colorado border. The Visitor Center is north of Aztec, near the junction of US 550 and NM 544.
WHEN TO VISIT
Open year round. Peak visitor month is August. Winters are cold, 16 to 48 degrees F; Summers are hot, 80 to 96 degrees F; Spring and Fall, 40 to 80 degrees F.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Ruins of this large 12th-century Pueblo Indian community have been partially excavated and stabilized.
A self-guiding trail leads through the west ruin, the reconstructed Great Kiva, and the nearby Hubbard Ruin. Food, supplies, and overnight accommodations are available in Aztec or Farmington.
